The Akita Inu dog breed is a unique and one of a kind species that has been awarded the title of the Nature Monument of Japan. The Akita-Inu breed has deserved this honor in the summer of 1931. Before these events, the dogs of this species had a different name: Kazuno-inu or Odate-inu.
