Allowable common and rare Akita Inu colors
Akita – Inu ranked among the fourteen most ancient types of dogs in the world. This decision was made by scientists on the basis of DNA tests, a thorough study of the lineage of our heroes, as well as thanks to the found rock paintings. Our heroes are unofficially called Japanese husky. First, because they are from Japan, and secondly, because they really have a lot in common, although this species belongs to the group of Spitz.
Until the seventeenth century, the Japanese husky served the common people and helped them in their hunt, guarding the house, herding cattle, and even taking part in dog fights. It is worth noting that in those days the breed was much smaller than today. In order for the Akita to look impressive as a fighter, and the spectacle became even more entertaining, they began to cross it with the Mastiffs. As a result, a species called “matagi” appeared.
In the eighteenth century, the Akita became a privileged dog and was only allowed to be kept by high-ranking and noble people. And the thing is not that the appearance of an Akita can be considered the standard of canine beauty, but that they are talented and naturally gifted hunters. In addition, they are smart enough to easily give in to training and work harmoniously in a team with their master, trapping the prey. Akita status has risen to the imperial level.
During the Second World War, the breed almost disappeared due to their call to the front. Under the fear of execution, many owners hid their pets and thus made it possible for dog experts to restore the almost extinct species in the post-war period. Experiments on crossing with a German shepherd are taking place in the same period. There is a new species – a shepherd.
The American soldiers, returning home from the war, brought incredibly cute puppies to their homeland. Subsequently, American dog experts will deduce a new species called “American Akita”. It is larger, and it is this species that is most common in Russia. According to the existing criteria, the maximum height of a pet does not exceed seventy centimeters.
Approved colors
All of the above are united by the fact that on whatever continent the animal lived and which dimensions did not have, and there are only four acceptable colors according to the World Cynological Federation:
Brindle,
Sesame,
Snow white
Red-fawn.
But not everything is so simple! There are three more versions of the standard and they are all presented by different organizations. Akikh admits the presence of the following colors in the coloring:
white,
spotted,
the black,
redhead
sesame,
brindle.
The NIPPO admits all of the above options, but excludes the spotted Akita Inu.
AKIKIO is allowed for various variations of the following colors:
The black,
White,
Brindle,
Redhead
Sesame.
Each author of the listed standards has his own vision of the beauty of a Japanese husky, and he reasonably substantiates it. The difficulty of determining a particular suit is also related to the fact that with age, the colors in dogs may change. Only snow-white wool remains unchanged.
Akita Inu White
This suit is today recognized as the rarest in Russia, but often found in Japan. And it appeared relatively recently, only in the first half of the twentieth century. An important condition is the absence of any, even the tiniest spots, as well as visually circled the lips and the tip of the nose, they should be as dark and clear as possible.
A light nose is acceptable, provided that the outline of the lip contour and around the eyes is contrastingly dark. The purity of white also plays a big role in the evaluation of a pet at exhibitions. Acceptable, but still a drawback is the presence of a yellow or gray tint. But a slight touch of blueness will only add points and is considered ideal.
Black
In fact, to meet a coal color dog is a rarity. Most often, this color with a more thorough professional look refers to black sesame or brindle without a clear pattern of stripes.
Please note that three of the four existing standards accept this color, since it was customary to depict national pride in black and white from ancient times.
Given the age of the breed, it can be assumed that many of the drawings were created in that period of the historical formation of mankind, when multi-colored drawings were impossible.
Tiger color
Japanese husky with tiger-skin for Russia is still exotic, but in the historic homeland of the animal it is now the most popular. There are several variations of this suit:
Blue
White (with very light stripes),
Black (also divided by degree of saturation),
Redhead
For a long time there were disputes about whether strips on the head are permissible, and, ultimately, they came to the conclusion that without them it would be better.
